AWE Development Project – The Virtual History of Fort York

The intern will conduct user experience and visitor experience testing on a brand new augmented reality technology developed by AWE Company Ltd. and an augmented reality experience at Fort York in Toronto, Ontario, developed by Divani Films Inc. In cooperation with Ryerson University and the partner organization the intern will identify and develop solutions to usability, content, and visitor experience problems. This research will be used to guide further advancements in this innovative new field which immerses participants in 360-degree virtually augmented environments featuring cinema-like narratives and videogame interactivity. The findings of this research will be used to advise solutions which will refine the Fort York augmented reality experience and advance the AWE technology for use in a diverse range of applications, including (but not limited to) television, heritage sites, museums, web, and advertising.
