The BioWater development project will encompass the design, development, fabrication, and validation test of a real-time online pathogen detection analyzer prototype for wastewater. The current development of the prototype BioWater analyzer will focus on (but is not limited to) the detection of the Legionella pneumophila in wastewater from Ontario wastewater treatment facilities (OCWA). CEM Specialties has a long history of successful projects with NRC-IRAP and Ontario Together Fund which has resulted in several successful spin-off companies. The benefit of this program and the funding of a dedicated post-doctorate fellow conducting the needed research into the detection and capture techniques of pathogens in wastewater will allow CEM Specialties to accelerate its testing and validation of the detection technique and support the companies efforts in the development of a real-time online pathogen in wastewater analyzer system.
