This project’s overview for the 4-month period is to –
• Improve the City’s processing of development applications efficiently and within required timelines while adhering to the Planning Act.
• Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the review, processing, and management of all planning applications and processes, including but not limited to pre-consultation, zoning and official plan amendments, site plan approvals, subdivisions and condominiums, minor variances and consents, circulations and public notices, Delegated Authority and standard texts for reports to ensure consistency, efficiency, and regulatory compliance across all planning processes.
The intern will :
• Review and Analyze Current Processes at the City of Niagara Falls within the development division.
• Apply planning principles set by the Ontario Planning Act, Ontario Heritage Act and Municipal Act to gain experience in the development of new processes, guidelines and regulations under the guidance of professional planners.
• Develop SOPs for development planning.
This work above will satisfy the objectives above, in addition, time permitting, the intern may
• Spend a small amount of time in processing applications to gain knowledge in advancing projects under the Ontario planning process.
