Business Strategy for King’s Distributed Systems Ltd

Kings Distributed Systems (“Kings”) is a Canadian corporation with the mission to make computing more affordable, secure, and interoperable. Its core offering is a software platform that makes running modern applications cheap and easy through a global ‘marketplace’ for computing resources. Since its inception, it has been delivering high-quality software for use in a broad number of industries, such as space science, public health, STEM research, AI/ML, and cybersecurity. One customer segment of Kings are municipalities with applications such as these that were previously prohibitively expensive or too complex to build. For example, it is too costly for most cities to monitor hundreds of video feeds using a centralized cloud provider, but with Kings it is now possible to do so. This project with Mitacs will help Kings identify more municipal use cases such as this one, and help build a repeatable strategy for addressing them. The project intern will identify the most common applications that municipalities might use Kings’ technology for and the various municipal requirements for using new software. It will also build some connections with municipal decision makers and gather valuable feedback from these stakeholders.
