Career Trek: Summer Program Development

Like many non-profit organizations, the COVID-19 pandemic has challenged the delivery of Career Trek programs. My project will focus on the delivery of a safe summer program to engage Manitoban youths through lessons and activities about various career paths and education options. I will be responsible to help organize, implement, and broaden the virtual component of the program, which will require close attention and several community resources. As ‘Program Assistant’ for Career Trek’s Summer Program, I will plan, facilitate, and support group activities throughout the summer, and manage the day-to-day operation of the summer program. The summer program will engage with community issues including poverty and social barriers by inspiring career goals in youth facing race, gender, or economic barriers. These goals could set a path that will help participants overcome their existing challenges and aspire them to find a passion within a career. I will assess the outcome of the summer program and complete a final report.
