Cataloguing Merging Galaxy Clusters for High-Resolution Sunyaev-Zeldovich Follow-Up Observations

This project investigates the evolution of galaxies by combining observational data to understand how the intracluster medium influences galaxy star formation. The intern will query and prepare a catalog of imaging and spectroscopic data for galaxies in clusters. A key outcome of the project is the creation of a structured catalogue of potential targets suitable for follow-up observations. The intern will receive training in computational astrophysics, scientific programming, and data-driven research methods, while contributing to ongoing work within the host institution’s galaxy research group. This collaboration strengthens ties between the Canadian and Dutch institutions by promoting knowledge exchange, fostering international research experience for early-career scientists, and advancing long-term efforts to understand the role of environment in shaping galaxy populations.
