Community Based Power Sharing

The goal of the proposed project is to explore the concept of how a remote community can share renewable power without the connection to an existing power grid. The scope entails the analysis of the existing scenario of northern off-grid communities in Ontario and the designed system to help them share power. A proposed system for Deer Lake will be analyzed and two components of the system are to be investigated and further developed by the interns. The Power Server, which manages the sharing of power between the residents of the community, is to be conceptualized. The Micro Wind Power Generation System, that will be used to generate electricity, will be optimized for economy and efficiency. Overall, both topics help the realization of the concept of Community Based Power Sharing, which could potentially have large scale impacts on the green energy landscape of the future.
