Developing a better understanding of ski usage through in-use data collection and appropriate testbed

Sooth measure and publish since 2021 the most important properties of skis to improve the customer shopping
experience. The response of experienced skiers has been generally highly positive. Skiers enjoy being able to
compare products with real measurements, and many find that they can relate their on-snow experience to these
measurements relatively easily. Two main requests have been formulated by skiers. First, many would like Sooth
to measure the detailed mass properties as well as the ski vibration response. Skiers would also like Sooth to
offer more direct recommendations. This project has thus two main objectives. The first objective is to develop
tools to easily measure additional ski’s characteristics that are not currently measured by Sooth. The second
objective is to develop tools that will help Sooth easily assess skiers quantifiably to provide better product
recommendations.
