Empowering Rural Manitoba: Community Broadband Initiatives, Digital Adoption, and Priorities for Digital Transformation.

This research project is about helping rural communities in Manitoba overcome barriers to adopting digital tools, utilizing online services, and accessing information via digital means. These barriers include physical infrastructure, device utilization, and digital literacy. We are working with Selkirk College and ISOC MB, who are already doing a great job in this area. We’ll take a deep dive into their work, understand what’s working well, and where there might be room for improvement. The interns will get to do things such as surveys and interviews, develop a website, and even create a podcast series about the digital journey of these communities. The partner organizations will benefit by getting a clear picture of their current situation and suggestions on how to make their services better. Ultimately, our goal is to help these organizations work together more efficiently and make sure the communities they serve have the best possible digital connections.
