Evaluation of thermal models for a greenhouse system

AgriTech North is a social enterprise Beneficial-Corp (B-Corp) producing fresh produce year-round, contributing to the resolution of food insecurity throughout Northwest Ontario. They are focused on local production with limited transportation requirements, a longer shelf life, and lower carbon footprint. AgriTech is engaged in the development of new vertical greenhouse technology to enable sustainable operation and a significant improvement over current farming methods. A new greenhouse design currently underway with complex heating and cooling systems – targeting low energy usage – requires the modeling and validation of the proposed green energy systems to be incorporated. The proposed project makes use of expertise of the PIs in energy management, with modeling software, in order to model a greenhouse space with targeted 50% reduction in energy consumption.
