Extending the life cycle of clothing through waste recycling

This research project proposes an approach to address the environmental impact of the fashion industry. The objective is to prolong the lifespan of end-of-life clothing by transforming them into non-woven fabric through recycling and studying the resulting material for possible new applications. This process involves shredding discarded clothes and analyzing the resultant material for potential applications for the furniture and construction industries. This project will provide the partner organization with significant benefits by strengthening their capabilities in textile recycling. This will provide them with an alternative source of raw materials and enable the development of new applications, contributing to a more sustainable fashion industry, aligning with global efforts to combat climate change.
