Fabrication and characterization of mixed matrix membranes toseparate greenhouse gases

Membrane separation processes have very low operating and maintenance costs in comparison to other separation technologies. The purpose of this project is to further develop the production of membranes that are suitable for capturing greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide and methane. A membrane that is suitable for industrial applications is able to create a high purity product stream, and achieve this objective with the smallest possible amount of membrane. The membranes produced by the research team at Middle East Technical University are currently able to produce a high purity product stream, however, a large amount of membrane is required to do so. It is therefore proposed that the intern will collaborate with the research team at Middle East Technical University to further optimize their production process such that a high purity product can be produced with less membrane area
