Fireweed Food Co-op (FFC) is a non-profit multi-stakeholder co-operative based in Winnipeg, Manitoba that facilitates the connection between food producers and customers as a distributor. A continual challenge for growth in the co-op is to acquire more funding from government and organizational grants. Communicaiton and messaging are key components in acquiring that funding, however, demonstrating the value and benefits of FFC to the necessary stakeholders is complicated and requires resources to compile the information around sustainability and community development. This takes staff time and resources, both which are both in short supply at this grass-roots organization. A student will work with Fireweed to explore their “sustainability” brand. They will look through what data is available on sustainability at Fireweed- economic, ecological and social, do a social media audit, and compile a case for support for the co-operative enterprise.
