Fredericton Red Wings and UNB Internship

This project is designed for graduate level interns to provided with an opportunity to be exposed to the sport industry. The sport industry globally is a billion dollar industry that can be a source of entertainment for a wide audience. Sport organizations, such as the Fredericton Red Wings, play a pivotal role in a small towns through out Canada. They are the “glue” that binds a community together, and be a source of social cohesion, an economic driver, and a uniting factor. The Fredericton Red Wings are a for-profit company that are a Canadian junior ice hockey franchise from Fredericton, New Brunswick that are owned by Global Centre Ice Inc. Because of COVID, the Red Wings has been financially challenged to continue to provide sporting opportunities for players between the ages 16-18 years old. In addition, Global Center Ice Inc. also operates the Prospects Hockey (Jr. Red Wings Program), Atlantic Canada’s premier minor hockey program. This internship will be focused on providing graduate level students to get “hands-on” experience in marketing, strategic planning, sponsorship innovation, and an understanding of running of day-to-day operations of a sport franchise.
