Good Food Club Programming Assistant Coordinator

The West Broadway Good Food Club (GFC) was born from the recognition that food security and adequate access to nutritious, affordable, and delicious food is not only a major social determinant of health, but also a fundamental human need. Since the beginning of the covid-19 pandemic, the GFC has had to pivot some of their services, and has been forced to contend with some unprecedented challenges. The two projects I will be working on with support from the GFC team—the West Broadway Farmer’s Market and the GFC’s Virtual Garden Party—will ensure that this valuable organization can continue to serve their community in a safe, efficient, and thoughtful manner. The West Broadway Farmer’s Market builds strong networks of social and organizational relationships between both program employees, volunteers, and community members; facilitates the pick-up and delivery of fresh, healthful foods to community members; raises public awareness of the benefits of GFC membership to a wider audience of potential members; and ensures public safety is a priority as the covid-19 pandemic situation shifts and/or evolves. The Virtual Garden Party program delivers free gardening kits and capacity building virtual programming to community members on a variety of subjects from basic first-aid to cooking and
