Mector is a user-friendly communication system designed to support seniors with dementia, helping them live independently at home while providing peace of mind to their family caregivers. Dementia often poses significant daily challenges, leaving family members feeling stressed and concerned about their loved one’s safety and well-being, especially when they are alone. Mector addresses these challenges with an easy-to-use smart case attached to a smartphone, facilitating patient communication through daily tasks such as personalized reminders, voice guidance, and alerts for important activities like taking medications, eating regularly, or maintaining daily routines. Additionally, Mector employs advanced technology like AI to track patients’ behaviour patterns and supervise and relay this information to families. It also incorporates smart sensors and location tracking to promptly notify family caregivers if there is a potential safety concern, such as falls, wandering, or missed medications. Through this technology, caregivers can monitor daily activities remotely and receive timely updates, reducing anxiety and helping them feel more confident in caring for their loved ones at home. The partner organization will benefit from providing an innovative, affordable, and practical dementia-care solution that addresses a critical need for families in Canada.
