The budding field of soft robotics, robots made of elastic materials such as rubbers or silicone, currently represents a 1.48 billion market size with a compound annual growth of 34.45%. The problem is that there is no specialized tool for the design and simulation of soft robots. Our research has already demonstrated a promising simulation framework which cuts down on computaion time by an order of magnitude, and is intuitive to use. The goal of this project is to perform a market analysis of the sector to determine the current simulation solutions, tools available to engineers, the biggest bottlenecks and how a tailored approach would help address the current limitations. The outcome would be a wishlist of features, an approximate price point and buiseness model, knowledge of the key competitors, and a strategy to make adoption of the new technology as seemless as possible. The domain of soft robotics can be applied to many sectors and is still in its infancy. This is the perfect opportunity to get in on the ground floor and develop new technologies to acomodated the novel challenges.
