Markerless kinematics analysis of divers to promote excellence in execution

The project goal is to extract motions of high-level divers to quantify technique and outcome (key indicators) markers. We need to measure some discrete variables (maximum height, flight time, springboard depression and others) and explain why the athlete is able to reach those results by calculating spatio-temporal variables (coordination with the board, lower and upper body motions, timing). We want to measure all the phases of a dive (approach, hurdle, press, lift-off, flight and entry) in order to quantify the individual strategy of each top Canadian diver. Knowing this, coaches and support team members will be able to pinpoint the phase and physical quality to work on in order to make the diver better. A database will also allow to compare the outcome of training load and stimuli types given to athletes. Answers will be provided on the amount of change happening through training interventions.
