Multi-Point Mobile Autonomous Visual Inspection System

As industry undergoes revolutionary changes with the integration of advanced controls, intelligent sensors and the machine to machine connectivity the limitations and expectations of autonomous systems are quickly rising. Well the autonomy of manufacturing robots is proving to be a key growth factor for efficient manufacturing, a new frontier is presenting itself. The next challenge to overcome will be the knowledge transfer required for human and machine collaboration. The focus of the proposed project is the constructions of a mobile autonomous visual inspection system (MAVIS) that will be designed and constructed to function in a manufacturing environment. The design of the entire system will consider the codifications of tacid knowledge of a human inspector into the inspection plan while keeping in mind that limitations of standard manufacturing robot equipment.
