La région est caractérisée par un complexe de forêts, lacs et tourbières soumis à différentes perturbations naturelles et anthropiques dont les feux de forêts, les épidémies d’insectes et plus récemment la construction d’un nouveau complexe hydro-électrique dont la mise en eau de trois bassins (Romaine-1, 2 et 3) est déjà complétée. Le projet proposé vise à documenter l’effet des variations du climat et des événements de feux la dynamique du carbone des tourbières du bassin-versant et de comparer ces changements aux effets des perturbations anthropiques récentes.
