Sara Riel Youth Transitioning out of care

The objectives of the program include furthering the organizations equity, inclusion and diversity policies and helping to implement their anti-racist, anti-oppression framework. I would perform research, analysis and review best practices. Additionally, I would identify, assess and analyze existing agency policies through a decolonizing and culturally safe lens to better create the conditions in which the organization can better engage with Indigenous students, volunteers, staff and Board Members to diversify the workforce. I would set the direction for the development of culturally appropriate, culturally safe and Indigenized ways of delivering health and social services. Also, I would aide in creating a healthy, psychologically and culturally safe workplace. Based on my research I would recommend innovations to relevant and meaningful outcomes as they relate to the services. Although the scope of this project is broad, it is my intention to research relevant and meaningful sources to add to the organization’s framework. I will utilize my human rights background to apply to this project as well as my experience working in cross-cultural settings. I aim to facilitate community discussions surrounding this project and bring their voices to the Centre.
