This research project aims to explore the lived experiences of immigrants in rural Nova Scotia and the barriers and enablers they face in accessing leadership positions. The research will involve conducting interviews and focus groups with immigrants, community members, government representatives, and NGOs. By understanding the struggles and biases that emerge from this research, the project aims to propose policies that will enable the achievement of emerging immigrant leaders and create a more inclusive rural development. The expected outcome is a better understanding of how municipal economic and social ecosystems hinder or enable the achievement of emerging immigrant leaders within Rural Nova Scotia.
