Smart railway: automated defect detection and predictive maintenance for resilient railway infrastructure

Railway systems play a vital role in modern society by rapidly and safely transporting cargo, goods and passengers. The project will build an intelligent railway infrastructure monitoring platform, and develop multi-scale railway maintenance algorithms to improve railway network safety and security, and promote a resilient infrastructure from disruptive events and climate changes. By developing technologies and practices, the project will advance Canadian railway system to remain safe and effective, support economic growth and improve the supply chain efficiency. The forefront of research also strengthens Canadian infrastructure resilience and sustainability pathways, and synchronize the goals to the best effects on more safe, reliable and resilient railway system and infrastructure.
