Strengthening Rural Communities after Disruption: A Comparative Jurisdictional Analysis of Ontario and Australia

The goal of this project is to better understand the factors or barriers that may be hindering a stronger economic recovery in rural Ontario from the COVID-19 Pandemic; and build upon our understanding of how to enhance the resilience and robustness of rural communities in Ontario. To achieve this goal, a comparative jurisdictional scan between Australia and Ontario will be undertaken—since rural communities in these regions of these are situated in similar economic, political, and cultural environments. This comparative jurisdictional scan aims to identify potential new and innovative rural economic development strategies from international contexts.
