The Journey to the Rexdale-Casino Woodbine Community Benefits Agreement: A Toronto Case Study

Community Benefit Agreements are relatively new in Canada, when compared to its use in the United States and in parts of Europe. The Rexdale-Casino Woodbine Community Benefits Agreement reflected a new model. We would like to study the impact of this model and lessons learned to share with other municipalities across Canada as well as communities. At the current time, historical information and details about this work do not exist in one comprehensive place. It is difficult to replicate and/or scale the Rexdale CBA example across Ontario and Canada without documenting the processes, strengths, challenges and lessons learned.

The final report will be widely shared and where possible, the team will look for ways to showcase this work through relevant communities of practice, peer networks and conferences.
