The Role of Micromobility in City-Building

The City of Edmonton developed the City Plan to help guide the growth of Edmonton towards the two-million people horizon. The City Plan envisions a more dense and sustainable City with a wide range of transportation options available for all Edmontonians. As Edmonton welcomes more people, additional transportation options will be required in the City. Increasing transportation options means that the City will need to direct more investment and effort towards enhancing the transit network, expanding the active transportation network, and ensuring street space allocation reflects the changing needs of Edmontonians. Micromobility plays a crucial role in achieving the goals and aspirations of the City Plan. This project will help explore the link between micromobility and the transportation and land use related targets in the City Plan. This work will help continue investment towards micromobility programs and projects.
