Ultra-compact GaN based integrated industrial drive for PCB stator motors

PCB stator motors are an emerging research area with cost and efficiency benefits compared to traditional motors. PCB stator motors with integrated variable frequency drives have the potential for significant power density improvements if Galium Nitride (GaN) power semiconductors are used in the drive. In this project, emerging high voltage GaN semiconductors will be used to develop a high-power density variable frequency drive compatible with 480 V grid-connected industrial applications. This drive will provide Celestica with a market-leading integrated motor drive product in fields such as pumps and air conditioners.
