Understanding Energy Use in Comminution

This project will be used to assist the mining industry in predicting the best possible practices for designing and operating mines. By developing an understand of how comminution tests represent the machinery we can predict what is required to breakdown the raw rocks from the ground into valuable products we can make mining both more economical and more environmentally sustainable. The benefits of the economic improvements for mining will allow us to continue to have access to all our amenities from cars to phones to our home appliances all while keeping costs as low as possible to the consumer. By selecting the most economical approaches we will also reduce unnecessary overuse of mining equipment which is slowly worn down by wear and tare in the harsh mine site environment reducing waste and saving energy by removing the need to constantly replace this equipment.
