Using a smart audio device, Tochie in a long term care home

This project will engage seniors, family members, and care staff, a total of 53 participants in a long-term care home to adopt a new technolopgydevice, Tochie for familyconnection. Participants will use the assistive audio speakers named Tochie over one month. Ongoing support and assistance will be provided to all participants during the one month to maximize the device’s potential benefit. After one month, all participants will be interviewed in focus groups to explore their experience and feedback on using the smart audio device. This project intends to explore user experiences of technology adoption. The findings of this project will provide helpful insight into specific needs and preferences of LTC residents and their families. Technology adoption barriers and challenges will be identified. Tochtech will use research reults to improve their product design on Tochie.
