School-aged children and adolescents around the world are not moving enough to promote their best health and well-being. To deepen the knowledge about physical activity differences worldwide, share ideas for improvement, and inspire positive change, the Active Healthy Kids Global Alliance runs an international initiative called the Global Matrix. Currently, teams of physical activity experts […]

Friendships between colleagues with different visual abilities might promote organizational harmony. However, people lacking experience with visually diverse peers may feel apprehensive about forming such bonds. Studies suggest common interests and values facilitate friendship. Thus, emphasizing what colleagues have in common may improve teamwork. But recognizing the unique experiences of those with sight loss is […]

The West Parry Sound District Museum (WPSDM) is partnering with The Festival Of the Sound (FOTS) to celebrate The FOTS 50th anniversary in 2029. The research project is the continuation of the collaboration between the Christopher Rowley group at Carleton University in Canada and the Mateusz Brela group at Jagiellonian University in Poland. This research project tackles the continuous need for an accurate description of the chemical structure’s role in the physicochemical properties of the final material. As the […]

This project investigates how cooperative governance frameworks can be applied to the design of creator-sovereign streaming platforms for independent film. It addresses two questions: how do existing cooperative and platform cooperative models handle the governance challenges of creative labour, including revenue distribution and data rights? And what design principles can be developed from the Centre […]

This project will develop and compare two simulation approaches for a Hamburg smart-city scenario and package the workflow so it can be reused for similar modelling in Ottawa. I will build (1) an agent-based model using the MARS framework (C#) with layered/GIS-style representations where agents move and interact based on their surroundings, and (2) a […]

This project aims to make future internet-connected devices secure against quantum computer attacks by developing faster and safer cryptographic software for small embedded systems. We will optimize a newly standardized post-quantum algorithm so that it runs efficiently on widely used ARM Cortex-M7 processors without sacrificing security. The results will help protect critical infrastructure, healthcare systems, […]

This project focuses on validating a new potential cancer treatment that was designed using artificial intelligence at Carleton University. The student (Ruofan Wang) will travel to a partner laboratory in France to test this treatment on specific cancer cells that rely on a tumor-promoting protein called SMYD3. This physical visit is critical because the partner […]

This project will investigate the use of automated and connected vehicle technologies as well as smart mobility technologies to improve Workzone Safety for Personnel undertaking road work in an urban or highway setting. In order to determine the most favourable technologies and how to apply them, the project will rely upon the use of resources […]

Organizations today face increasing difficulty keeping up with cybersecurity and privacy rules such as ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR, and Canada’s PIPEDA. Meeting these requirements is often slow, expensive, and prone to human error because compliance checks are still done mostly by hand. To address this, Carleton University and Sabytel Technologies Inc. are working together […]
