RagnaRock Northern Brewing Company Ltd. is a 5-barrel craft brewery in St. Anthony, Newfoundland, that opened in November 2019 with three owners just before the start of the pandemic. The craft beer scene in NL is growing in popularity and with an increase in demand for our product, RagnaRock is getting ready for a busy […]

Instrumar Limited’s core technology platform, used in both industrial and aerospace industries, is based on the measurement of electrical properties of materials that come in contact with its sensor. The sensors sample data in real time and provide feedback based on parameters that are determined through extensive testing. Instrumar receives terabytes of data from its […]

POWER HV is a technology company focusing on carbon emission reduction. Through their sensor product, they help power plants increase the efficiency of the grid and improve its stability in challenging weather by tracking every single bushing and predicting a bushing failure. Exploiting the generated massive sensor data can contribute to an automatic and intelligent […]

Acrylic Robotics is a robotics startup based in Montreal, on a mission to use technology to make fine art accessible to the general public. To make fine art accessible, this project focuses on the development of a physical motion capture system to capture and recreate the artist’s brushstrokes. The intern will assist in the development […]

qualiTEAS’ product, Argus 1.21, is machine learning based computer vision application that can analyze images of offshore structures and detect corrosion-mediated damages. Through this project, qualiTEAS is aimed to develop a next-generation machine vision solution that can detect corrosion impact on a 3D representation of the asset.

The developed software product by the qualiTEAS team requires more data to train machine learning-based algorithms. The general objective of this project is to improve the final product of the qualiTEAS team through implementing the innovative design of experiment techniques. The current project will help the qualiTEAS team overcome current challenges and barriers towards improving […]

This project will apply causal discovery methods to two model-generated datasets. One is a dataset describing the transport of emerging contaminant metformin in the groundwater; the other is a card fraud transaction dataset. The method will examine the dataset’s underlying structure (data skeleton). Multiple new methods will be evaluated and tested on the datasets. The […]

The proposed research project involves a partnership between the City, Grenfell Campus (Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador) and the Atlantic Forest Center (Natural Resource Canada, Corner Brook office) to generate capacity to collect, summarize, and analyze current tree distribution in the City (and boundary areas) using a combination of remote sensing platforms.

Global warming is a very concerning mater, which needs serious attention and the development of the technologies to decrease the rate of CO2 concentration increase. In this project, a solvent-based post-combustion CO2 capture process is evaluated through the development of smart models (e.g., ML) and optimization techniques (e.g., PSO). The data for the smart model […]

Biomass residues from forestry operations (sawdust, bark, pulp and paper sludge etc.) have a myriad of potential applications if repurposed, however are often simply disposed of in landfills or stockpiled at sawmills. In this work we will investigate hydrothermal processing of two of the highest volume of residues produced; sludge from pulp and paper processing […]

Icebergs are large masses of ice drifting in ocean under influence of winds in currents. Icebergs are important indicators of climate, they provide nutrients to the ocean ecosystem, but they are also a threat to shipping and offshore industry. Collecting iceberg shapes helps to model climate, predict iceberg drift, and protect offshore facilities and flowlines […]

This project will support the Airport Authority to innovate post-Covid through the introduction of new revenue streams that support diversification of our operation as well as introduce new leading edge opportunities in tourism and air industry best practice evidence. The project will enable us to be viable and expand our offerings in the market and […]
