Recycle Smart Intern

The ability to meet prospects face to face has been reduced to almost zero during the pandemic. We need to find a way to efficiently prospect, qualify and set initial meetings with prospects in order to keep the business development pipeline full. Prior to the pandemic the business development did most of the prospecting/initial meetings face to face.
The method in which RecycleSmart prospects for new business has changed due to COVID 19, gone are the days of face to face meetings. To keep our new business pipeline full, we need to pivot our lead generation process to 100% online/phone-based prospecting. This internship will help to expedite this process and ensure our business development goals can be achieved in the face of COVID-19.

Cold Spray Coatings Qualification for Repair of Aerospace Parts

Many aerospace parts on Boeing aircrafts cannot currently be easily repaired when damaged during operation due to the lack of existing economical-practical repair
technologies. For example, damaged aluminum coatings or chromium plating require that the coating/plating be completely removed and then reapplied, an extremely costly and time consuming process. Similarly, aluminum and titanium parts damaged during regular operation or even initial machining must be disposed of if the damage causes a thickness reduction below the minimum engineering requirements as there is no current process to repair those parts. The Cold Spray technologies commercialized by the manufacturing sponsor (Centerline (Windsor) Limited) produce metallic layers/coatings by accelerating metal powders onto the part to be repaired/coated using high velocity inert gas at supersonic speeds without damaging the parts to be coated.

ResolvMD Corp. – Business Development Analyst (2)

As we are a smaller and nimble company, we have been able to drive home the importance of moving to digital infrastructure. Discussions with clients have been very positive in this regard. There are structural changes in mentality and operations occurring which our organization benefits greatly from. We are looking to drive adoption on multiple fronts – more time for patient care, higher efficiencies and less intermediaries. We would like to analyze whether to continue to look for roll-up targets in an effort to enhance physician on-boarding. There are also opportunities to start looking at our future markets for expansion (Canada as a primary and the US as a secondary). We are strongly positioned in Alberta but want to be proactive in starting to understand the dynamics in other provinces, the systems of record and the competitive landscape. An intern can help accelerate our path to market in both regards which in turn helps us to grow faster and earn market share.

Park Champ – Marketing Coordinator

Focus will be on doing market research and analysis to help support our business development and sales team identify new target markets, find new prospect customers. Focus on staying active in marketing and sales and developing a new understanding of our customer now with the “new normal”. Evaluate if there are opportunities in new segments or new applications for our technology and use this information to help make business decisions about our growth strategy. This will help the company make strategic decisions about our current segment since the commercial real estate sector and commercial parking sector has been impacted significantly by COVID 19. Interns will be responsible for planning and executing research, reports, campaign tactics, and supporting materials and relaying this information internally to the ParkChamp team. This internship will provide our organization with the opportunity to find and cultivate young, local talent. It provides students looking for work – especially during COVID 19 – with an opportunity to build their skills while working for a great local company.

Virtual Funerals Canada

Virtual Funerals Canada is a start-up seeking to provide virtual online funerals for an industry decimated by the COVID-19 virus. Currently, there is no service like this available to families that wish to have an interactive service for their deceased loved ones in many funerals homes and cremation providers. Marketing Project for Admission Advisors

Admission Advisors is an international student recruitment located in Toronto. They mainly recruit students for over 40 different educational institutions across Canada. Their key main focus areas are academic advice & counselling. They provide academic advice to students including information on courses and programs offered by their partners’ institutions, university pathway programs, the Canadian education and legal systems, information about living expenses as an international student in Canada and more. In my MMA program at Queen’s university I have taken multiple interesting courses and now is the time to apply my academic knowledge into the business world. Working as a data & marketing analyst in a company where I can analyze the data of multiple leads and leads which were successful converted into sales, will not only help the company to identify where to spend their marketing budget and efforts but also help the Canadian Institutions to have the right candidate for the programs they are offering.

Development of Residential HVAC and Air Conditioning Demand Management and Control Systems – Residential Peaksaver™ Analysis and Development of Smart Dual Fuel Switching System (SDFSS)

This project aims to leverage the TRCA Archetype Sustainable House facilities, the innovative HVAC, DHW and renewable energy equipment and on-site comprehensive
monitoring system to identify opportunities for systems integration and optimization and, together with the manufacturing partner and utilities, demonstrate a control module that can both inform homeowners of their energy consumption via a user-friendly display and automate system operation of the on-site equipment. The anticipated outcomes of the project will be the demonstration of the ability of “smart” controls to reduce energy consumption and/or shift loads to off-peak times by optimizing the operation of innovative home HVAC equipment. The outcomes will be of importance to government agencies looking for solutions to climate change (such as NRCan), utilities looking for electrical load shaving and peak load shifting opportunities (such as electrical local distribution companies, THESL, and the Ontario Power Authority) and agencies interested in demand side management opportunities.

Development of a market prototype of a smart toothbrush for individuals with advance dementia

Dementia in general and Alzheimer Disease in particular are among the most challenging health conditions in our century. Experiencing cognitive decline, resulting in relying on others for daily living activities and impairment in basic mental tasks are the main symptoms. There are yet no proven treatments to slow or prevent Alzheimer’s Disease or dementia progression; thus, they eventually need full-time care. To help patients to stay at their own home longer and ease the caregiver burden, Smart Assistive Technology (SAT) products may be greatly beneficial. One of the basic activities that Alzheimer’s patients in particular need help with, are basic hygiene needs such as brushing their teeth. In this project, we will develop a market prototype of the recently designed smart toothbrush as an SAT for basic hygiene functions of dementia patients. The design includes hardware and software. The hardware includes 9-Axis (gyro, accelerometer, compass) motion sensor, temperature sensor, individually addressable red green blue (RGB) light emitting diodes (LEDs), voice module and other electrical components, while the software includes real-time monitoring of several dependent and independent tasks using a parallel algorithm to assist the users.
