Since 1990, the CIHR Canadian HIV Clinical Trials Network (CTN) has advanced research to prevent, treat and manage human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), aiming to develop a cure for this disease. Over these 30 years, many clinical and research projects have been funded, generating important information and considerable data related to HIV. However, this relevant knowledge has not been organized in a central resource and shared effectively with the scientific and patient community hindering accessibility of the generated data elements and any insights from their combined analysis. This project aims to analyze the higher-level data, known as metadata, that describes the study data collected across eleven major CTN clinical studies that follow people living with HIV over time. Our resource database will be accessible through the CTN website that is publicly available and through the platform designed by the Centre for Health Evaluation and Outcome Sciences (CHÉOS) to all the interested researchers. It will promote data sharing and collaboration among scientists and community partners to advance Canadian HIV research efforts.
