CLTB Housing Initiatives Feasibility Study

Community Living Thunder Bay (CLTB) provides various services to ensure the rights and quality of life of persons with intellectual disabilities, including residential and housing services. The rental expenditure of CLTB has significantly increased in the last 10 years, The people CLTB support are some of the most vulnerable, while the waitlists for subsidized rent are long and many of them rent from local landlords from the private sector. To face these challenges and utilize organizational opportunities, CLTB believes it would be better to build equity in the non-profit sector and to operate a separate entity. A not-for-profit housing corporation would create affordable and inclusive housing alternatives for people that CLTB support. This project conducts a feasibility study to ensure successful delivery of this affordable housing project. It will help CLTB determine how to achieve the best use of the land and property while leveraging the existing financial resources.
