Commercial viability assessment and improvement for new fall prevention and recovery device

Axtion Independence Mobility Inc. was founded in January 2020. We design devices to help people age in place safely and with dignity. Our first patent pending device helps prevent falls, and in the unfortunate event a fall occurs, helps the person return to a sitting or standing position independently or with minimal assistance. One in four people aged 65+ will fall at least once per year; one in two for those aged 80+. Most do not suffer any significant injury but almost 40% need help getting back up.

There are 155 million people aged 65+ across the G7 nations and 40% of that market is in the US and Canada.

There are multiple stakeholders who will benefit both economically and qualitatively and to whom we must demonstrate these benefits for our venture to be a commercial success. These stakeholders include healthcare system payers, medical device payers, clinicians who prescribe medical devices, distributors, durable medical equipment (DME) retailers, family members, caregivers, and the users. Our initial target market is the US and Canada so the value propositions are quantified differently among these various stakeholders.
