Differentiated QoS Provision and Assurance in Green Cloud Environments

Cloud computing is an emergent computing paradigm that offers the computing resources to the Clients on-demand in a pay-per-use fashion. Enterprises can move their information technology infrastructure to the Cloud, and save on their capital and operational expenses, as such, the enterprise becomes a Cloud tenant. Many concerns arise on whether the Cloud can ensure the required QoS (e.g. performance, high availability (HA), environmental impact or the Green factor) for each tenant, as different tenants may have different requirements. Moreover, some requirements may be conflicting, e.g. the Green factor requires maximizing the efficiency by getting the most with fewer resources, while the HA requirement requires redundancy, and eliminating single points of failures. This project aims at defining a multi-objective optimized solution to ensure the QoS for our Cloud tenants, this gives Ericsson a competitive advantage in the field of Cloud computing, and promotes the use of Greener Clouds.
