L2M Novel Treatment for Interstitial Cystitis

Interstitial cystitis is a life-long condition that causes pain and pressure in the bladder. It is not clear how this condition is caused; however, we know that it involves increased bladder inflammation. Currently available treatments for interstitial cystitis do not work for everyone and often stop working after a few years. We are developing a treatment for this condition that decreases pain and inflammation. We hope to bring to the consumer market, but before we do, we need to complete additional investigations into how our treatment works to decrease inflammation. After we are sure that the treatment is effective, we will need to determine the steps needed to bring this new treatment to people with interstitial cystitis. This project will help patients with interstitial cystitis manage their symptoms and allow our partner organization to mobilize Canadian research to the medical market.
