Leak detection technology

The partner organization, Sensyn, is addressing the pressing issue of pipeline leaks in Canada, driven by aging infrastructure. Incidents of leaks have surged in the last decade, leading to environmental harm and significant cleanup expenses. Conventional leak detection systems are struggling to cope, underscoring the urgent need for better solutions.

Sensyn’s groundbreaking sensing cable technology, Oilrove, offers a transformative solution. It boasts unparalleled sensitivity in detecting liquid hydrocarbons, ensuring precise leak detection without false alarms. Oilrove’s versatility allows for easy installation in both existing and new pipelines, whether buried or above ground. Moreover, the environmental benefits of Oilrove are significant. By promptly detecting leaks, it helps minimize the environmental impact of spills, reducing contamination of soil, water resources, and ecosystems. This not only safeguards biodiversity but also protects public health by preventing exposure to harmful substances.

However, Sensyn faces challenges in securing funding and establishing business partnerships to transition Oilrove from research to market. This project aims to assist Sensyn in refining its marketing and business strategy to overcome these obstacles. By doing so, they can attract investors and forge partnerships necessary for bringing Oilrove to market effectively.
