Retro Active Data Analysis (informing clinical care)

The proposed project will determine how the Opto-mization Neuro-Visual assessment captures improvements in a patient’s vision over time and in response to treatment. To accomplish this, the Neuro-Visual assessment database will be organized into a library with data from all patients who completed the assessment, every time they completed the assessment, with a custom MATLAB or Python repository. Next, repeated-measures analyses, including multilevel growth curve tests, will be applied to examine longitudinal trends in optometric data. Assessment data is expected to be sensitive to time after treatment, lending quantitative evidence to patient testimonials. Once general trends in the dataset are understood, a data-driven approach will be used to further investigate areas of interest, such as demographics, and treatment modalities. By analyzing the Neuro-Visual assessment database, we will have an improved understanding of how Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation helps patients, guiding further implementation of these tools.
