thisforest: Developing A Forest Products Traceability Program for the Coast of British Columbia

The research will look at how the ‘thisforest’ program advances the proposed traceability of timber, to
provide a value-add to relevant industry stakeholders, including members of Be Wood and the Be
Log & Timber Building Industry Association . The determination needed concerns the social and
contextual value-added from forest traceability and how same will create revenue for such
stakeholders and to what degree. Alternatively, there is the desire for the creation of a benchmark for
current timber tracking methods and the cost comparison with the thisforest traceability system.
This research will provide landowners, producers, timber brokers, and members Be Wood and of the
Be Log & Timber Building Industry Association with data to make better informed decisions on their
timber traceability needs.
