Understanding the Barriers and Opportunities of the Latin Music Community in Canada

The artists and industry professionals that comprise Canada’s Latin music community are a dynamic and diverse group. Even though members of this group have made significant contributions to Canada’s cultural landscape, few studies have been conducted to investigate the challenges and requirements of this community. This proposal aims to address this deficiency by conducting a series of curated focused groups to better understand the
challenges and opportunities facing the Latin music community in Canada.
In recent years, Latin music has experienced a meteoric rise in popularity across the globe. Its unique combination of rhythms, melodies, and lyrics has managed to captivate audiences all over the world, resulting in a rise in consumption and appreciation of this genre. In this review of the pertinent literature, the global value of Latin music, including its cultural significance, economic impact, and social influence, will be examined.
