Using AI to inform Doctors in a Cardiology Platform

Cardiac specialists spend anywhere from 60-70% of their patient consult working with electronic medical record (EMR) software attempting to extract salient patient data that leads to providing the most accurate diagnosis and care path. Cadea Health Inc. is seeking to reduce the workload cardiologist face by taking advantage of AI to intelligently gather and present relevant information. Cardea’s platform is seeking to utilize AI to extract non-standardized patient data from multiple sources into a coherent data flow and single source. Once the correct data is extracted, it further will utilize AI to then present the most relevant care paths based on the best regional practices and guidelines which can vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. The first task will undertake NLP algorithms to both recognize cardiological terms and be able to locate relevant data. The second task will most likely take advantage of text embedding and vector databases to locate relevant information based on the NLP results that correlate to jurisdiction. This project will focus on the NLP aspects of this project. We expect preliminary results that can be used to help guide the larger research project.
