Mitacs Entrepreneur Awards shine a spotlight on entrepreneurs transforming Canada through unbounded innovation
Vancouver, B.C. – Mitacs is now accepting applications for the 2022 Entrepreneur Awards being held June 2 in Montréal, Québec. The awards celebrate the creativity of past and present Mitacs program participants who have turned their research into an innovative business or business idea.
Held since 2015, the Entrepreneur Awards are an opportunity for Mitacs to celebrate entrepreneurial advancements that are having a meaningful impact on Canadian innovation. Past winners are spearheading revolutionary businesses that have developed technology that can automatically identify harmful algae in water, create biodegradable and disposable intravaginal prosthetics for women with pelvic organ prolapse (POP), or decrease the pollution caused by marine shipping, and much more.
Depending on the award category, nominated entrepreneurs and businesses are judged on feasibility and sustainability, global impact, their work on addressing social, cultural, or humanitarian issues, or how they are making a positive impact on the environment and tackling challenges related to climate change.
Successful winners will receive $5,000 towards their start-up, national marketing and media promotion, and an invitation to the Entrepreneur Awards ceremony to be broadcast nationwide. In addition, they will also be featured in Mitacs impact stories as well as given the opportunity for potential speaking engagements.
