A socio-ecological analysis of nature-based Green Care Farm project for older adults living with dementia and their care partners

The proposal aligns with an ongoing project conducted by the Gilbrea Dementia SHARE group which investigates the impact of a nature-based support program for older adults with dementia and their caregivers. This study focuses on social health and well-being outcomes for individuals living with dementia. The proposed project aims to identify the socio-ecological factors influencing their participation in nature-based activities. It seeks to improve research outcomes through field engagement and data analysis related to dementia and Green Care Farm studies. The key objectives of the proposed project are to contribute to the ongoing research efforts of the research group in designing a dementia-friendly intervention program centred around Green Care Farms and to secure future funding. This will be accomplished by supporting the research team in performing data analyses and producing knowledge translation products (such as infographics and designing community outreach materials). These efforts are intended to support the effective design of nature-based interventions focused on dementia care. Knowledge generated from the research project will provide further insights into the perceived enablers and barriers to nature-based support opportunities for people living with dementia and their caregivers.
