The proposed project aims to address the evolving needs of the Ontario Kinesiology Association (OKA) and its members, focusing on understanding the challenges faced by Kinesiologists in their careers and developing initiatives to support their retention and professional growth. Through a design thinking approach, the project will involve data analysis, focus groups, and surveys to identify member needs and propose innovative membership program opportunities. The intern will deliver a comprehensive report recommending up to five unique program opportunities, which will be presented to the OKA Board of Directors. By strengthening the Kinesiology profession in Ontario, the project contributes to broader societal goals of chronic disease prevention and health human resource management, ultimately benefiting the health and well-being of Canadians nationwide. Additionally, the project addresses the pressing issue of Kinesiologists leaving the profession between five and nine years into their careers, aiming to understand the underlying causes and develop strategies to mitigate this trend, thus ensuring a sustainable and thriving Kinesiology workforce for the future.
