Deepening Intersectional Considerations of LGBTQ+ Health

In wanting to better understand how the intersections of gender identity and expression, sexuality, racialization and ethnicity are taught within mental health care, education and professional practice, the overall objective of this research project is to learn how LGBTQ+ identities are taught to and understood by psychology students in Brazil. Dr. Dhebar will learn intersectional practice outside of Canada and United States, and this project will be an opportunity for knowledge exchange between health and psychlogy researchers in Brazil, and the intern in Canada. It will allow her to learn and engage with these approaches more deeply by working with the host supervisor and his colleagues at three other universities in Brazil. Therefore, this project seeks to build upon existing research, by learning the intersectional contexts and considerations in Brazil, specifically in psychology and LGBTQ+ Health programs.
