Graffiti Art Programming Inc. (aka Graffiti Gallery, GAP) describes themselves as “a community arts organization located in the Point Douglas neighbourhood of Winnipeg that facilitates free educational arts programming for children and youth who may otherwise lack access to mentorship and artistic instruction…GAP’s main exhibition space, Graffiti Gallery, is a contemporary art gallery that showcases the work of both emerging local and established international artists working outside the expectations of traditional arts institutions.” To better share and preserve the work of Graffiti Gallery, the creation of an easily-accessible, digital catalogue of past exhibitions and events will be undertaken. The “GAP Catalogue” will serve to preserve Winnipeg’s cultural history so that it is not lost or forgotten, and will enable the gallery to reach a wider audience through its virtual platforms. Since the creation of the catalogue will require a wide-sweeping digitization of the organization’s hard copy photographs and publicity clippings, the Graffiti Gallery staff will have access to a highly-organized, digital collection which will lead to improved organizational and marketing efficiencies while promoting new patronage to the gallery.
