Evaluating rapid bacterial sequencing for clinical diagnostics

Antibiotic resistance is a major threat to the health of Canadians. The spread of antibiotic resistance organisms and lead to inappropriate antibiotic treatment and adverse health outcomes. With this project, one intern will be supported to learn and develop approaches for rapid bacterial diagnostics and surveillance, with direct relevance for knowledge
translation and knowledge generation. Tasks will focus on validating rapid sequencing approaches, optimizing quantification of bacterial burden, and exploring implications for surveillance of pathogens. These tasks will be
supported by the partner (Ottawa Hospital Research Institute) and the academic institution (The University of Ottawa).
