Examination of a 90-day self-compassion journal

Individuals can view their failures or inadequacies through a self-critical, isolated lens or they can view it through a self-compassionate one. Whereas the self-critical lens can increase stress and negative feelings, viewing failures or inadequacies with self-compassion leads to better coping and greater well-being. Self-compassion journaling is a low-cost means of helping individuals to increase their self-compassion. The purpose of this project will be to evaluate a 90-day self-compassion journal created by Tycho Project. Using quantitative and qualitative methods, we will examine participants’ experiences using the journal and whether they improved their self-compassion and well-being. This research may result in improvements to the journal which may enhance the effectiveness of future versions of the journal.
