Examining the implementation of a free physical activity program for grade 5 children in London, Ontario

Physical activity is an important part of children’s development. However, a majority of Canadian children are not meeting the national recommendation of 60-minutes of physical activity. To counter this issue, London’s Child and Youth Network (CYN) developed the ACT-i-Pass Program, a physical activity program that offers free recreational programming to grade 5 children in the city. While there have been previous evaluations of the program, the quality of the program’s implementation has not been explored. The purpose of this project is to evaluate the reach of the program, an important aspect of program implementation. The CYN will learn who is registering for the ACT-i-Pass program and will understand if there are inequities in the program. Additionally, an online resource with a summary of the ACT-i-Pass evaluations will be developed to improve the dissemination of findings and recommendations for community-based interventions with the CYN and their partners.
